Dominican Mission
In addition to being active in the local community, FMS Purchasing & Services’ volunteer efforts go beyond the state of Florida and even beyond the borders of the United States. FMS President, Tim Gregson, is a council member for the Word of Life’s Dominican Mission which is dedicated to bringing the love of the Gospel to the people of the Dominican Republic. Several of FMS’ employees accepted Tim’s invitation to accompany him on a trip to deliver food and clothing to a couple of the Dominican’s many needy villages. Global Association of Christian Hospitality Professionals (GACHP)
FMS has formed a solid partnership with the Global Association of Christian Hospitality Professionals (GACHP). With more than 300,000 churches across the country, many of which have a food service component, there was growing demand for ongoing training and development for this $100 million dollar industry. Out of this demand was borne the GACHP. The GACHP uses an annual conference to provide face-to-face training and support to its members, and their website contains a wealth of useful information as well. To assist with the rapid growth they are experiencing, the GACHP formed an Advisory Council. FMS President Tim Gregson was honored by the invitation to chair this group of talented individuals and ultimately accepted the role.

One of the more impressive examples of the great work accomplished through this partnership was the inaugural Luvin’ from the Oven campaign. Six Florida churches and hundreds of volunteers baked and delivered 40,000 cookies to Florida hospitals during Nurse Appreciation Week. When FMS reached out to manufacturing partners with details about the effort, the manufacturers responded enthusiastically by donating most of the needed supplies. The nurses were taken back by the kind gesture and the sense of community that was generated by this act. The plan is to grow this event each year with it ultimately becoming national in scope!

Metropolitan Ministries
Metropolitan Ministries offers assistance to the poor, hungry and homeless in their time of need. In addition to food, clothing and shelter, those in need find compassion and hope at Metropolitan Ministries. FMS employees have made it a tradition to volunteer time around the holidays, the busiest time for Metropolitan Ministries, to help ensure that all of those seeking assistance are welcomed and can enjoy the holiday season as much as possible.
